Christmas Time and Glory to God

I am posting this article because in relation to my own Personal Faith I would like to make sure and Give God the Glory and Praise in this Christmas Time for ALL that He did in giving Us His Son Jesus Christ…

This great write-up is provided by Jonathan Falwell.

Symbols are important at Christmas time. We have trees, holly and mistletoe, special movies and music, and much more. Christians embrace special symbols at Christmas too – the Wise Men, the shepherds, a sky bursting with angels, Mary and Joseph and, most importantly, the baby Jesus, born of a virgin.

One of my favorite symbols of Christmas is the Star of Bethlehem because it led the Wise Men to Jesus (Matthew 2:1-2) and because it accomplished four key things.

1. It gave direction, guiding the Wise Men.
2. It was a sign, telling them of the newborn Jesus.
3. It pointed to the future when the babe would be King.
4. It gave encouragement and they rejoiced upon seeing it.

God holds stars in very high order. Did you know that the Bible associates wisdom with the stars? Daniel 12:3 says this: “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever” (NKJV).

But this was the most important of all stars and the Wise Men knew it was not typical. That is why they called it “His star” (Matthew 2:2). Today, we continue to celebrate these men who sought the newborn King and we can learn from them about the importance of placing Jesus in preeminence in our lives.

We don’t know if there were three Wise Men, or more. Most scholars think there were many because everyone in Jerusalem was talking about this expedition that came to their city. Let’s see how they continue to inspire us.
The Wise Men were diligent in their search for the newborn Christ. They asked, “Where is he that is born King of the Jews” (Matthew 2:2)? This is an excellent question for every person to ask. Today, wise people still search for Jesus and come to realize that He is calling us to faith in Him (John 15:16).

The Wise Men approached Jesus in the right manner because when they found Him they fell down and worshipped Him (Matthew 2:11). Today, wise people come to Jesus with the right heart attitude of worship and praise.

The Wise Men teach us to be unselfish with our gifts. These men brought gifts befitting a king: gold, frankincense and myrrh” (Matthew 2:11). Today, wise people offer selfless gifts to Jesus even though we know we can never repay Him for what He has done for us.

Finally, the Wise Men worshipped Jesus (Matthew 2:11). Today, wise people worship Him and elevate Him above all others because He who created the universe sent His only Son to save us from our iniquities.

The symbol of the Star and the Wise Men are wonderful. They hold many truths that continue to motivate us to serve Him more. This Christmas, when you see an image of the Star, remember its great importance in the Christmas story and let its brilliance continue to warm your heart as we ponder the magnitude of all that began on that first Christmas night.

Like the Wise Men, I pray that we adore Jesus and seek Him in all we do in the coming year. Merry Christmas to you all.

In Christ,
